Scott Adams lives in Marin County north of San Francisco. He has been painting with oil for the last fourteen years. As a youth he designed boats and cars but never took an art class. He took his first art class in college but studied engineering and eventually became an architect in California. After thirty-five years as an architect he was encouraged to become an artist and attended his first painting class at a local community college. His instructor was Chester Arnold, a well respected artist, who suggested he pursue painting. He studied under Michael Markowitz, in San Francisco for a year, and soon became fond of abstract painting in oil using vibrant colors. Scott studied figure painting under Larry Bencich and took additional courses under Chester Arnold. In 2011 and 2012 his abstract paintings were showcase winners in an international contest put on by ARTSLANT.
